• ad copywriter

For Warner Bros. Records, I wrote numerous print ads and copy for event collateral (such as South x Southwest) for artists including Wilco and Built to Spill. I wrote David Byrne’s Luaka Bop artist catalog and scripted Hillary Clinton’s PSA for Save America’s Treasures and the Sing, America benefit album. And even though I love words, I also know when an image can speak a thousand of them (see above).

  • senior editor + contributing writer

I was a senior editor and contributing writer for Spa. This is one issue I worked on. I managed the production schedule and freelance contributors, and also wrote short articles in addition to penning coverlines.

  • contributing writer

As a music journalist living in New York and Los Angeles, URB was one of the magazines I contributed to — I interviewed electronic music artists and reviewed live performances. (I did the same as a west coast editor for Spin magazine.) It was an amazing opportunity to talk to highly creative people from around the world. (Online archive is unavailable.)

  • comic book contributor

I wrote the intro for the Woodstock 2 Marvel Comics / Marvel Music comic book that was sold worldwide. It’s now a collector’s item (sold on Amazon and elsewhere). This project overlapped with my time as a consumer marketing and ad copywriter for Marvel Comics in New York.

  • marvel comics copywriter

I wrote many ads for Marvel Comics featuring their most popular characters, including the X-Men and Spider-Man. Our in-house creative team worked with clients’ ad agencies to deliver campaigns that promoted products without compromising the integrity of the Marvel Universe. I also wrote copy for promotional items including in-store signage and Spider-Man trading cards, as well as radio teaser scripts for Marvel’s television series.

  • music editor + writer

I was a west coast editor for Spin magazine for a few years. I interviewed bands and artists — such as Phish, shown here — and also reviewed albums and live concerts (including Oasis, Bjork, Ben Harper, Foo Fighters and Stevie Nicks).
